Fitting 08-10 Cobalt SS Brembo calipers to your ng9-3 is a great upgrade. …But and adaptor kit is needed! THESE BOLTS ARE LONGER THAN THOSE USED ON THE NG9-3.
Sold in pairs.
This kit included specially machined bolts to adapt from m14 holes in the spindle to the m12 hardware needed for the Cobalt calipers.
ALSO! The calipers are not centered over the rotor when using the modified Cobalt rotors. Because of that, a shim in needed between the wheel bearing and the spindle. This prevents brake pad drag or rotor interference with the caliper.
315mm Rotor Notes:
The 315mm Cobalt SS rotors have been a common option for many older or base model Saab’s for use with the Brembo calipers from the Cobalt SS.
These rotors do require modifying the center bore from 65mm to 70.1mm. This is something most machine shops can handle, and, some vendors offer these premodified.
These Cobalt rotors are preferred over the Saab ng9-3 v6 314mm rotors because the Saab rotors are too wide for the caliper. Using the Saab rotors would require having them narrowed from 28mm wide down to 26mm wide and discarded at 24mm wide.
Additionally, the steering knuckle and Cobalt Brembo caliper both need clearanced because the mounting ‘ears’ interfere. A cut template is included to make this easier for you.
314mm Rotor Notes:
The 314mm rotors used in the ng9-3 are a great upgrade and my preferred option. However, these rotors are roughly 2mm wider than the calipers are intended to fit. The upside to these rotors is that the centers do not need to be bored to fit. If you use these rotors as they came, you can expect rubbing, and centering the rotor exactly is more important. The Simple solution is to have the rotors turned down 1-2mm (.040"-.080") in width. This tends to be easier to have done than having the center bores increased, and it generally costs less as well.
UNDER ROTOR SHIM SPACERS
Under rotor shims are available in various thicknesses if needed to help center your rotor to the calipers. Click Above for more details.
