Single Mass Flywheels (SMF) are a huge performance improvement over factory Dual Mass Flywheels, and, Aluminum flywheels are the most common.
This kit is aimed at spreading the load from fasteners across a larger surface area.
Although some aluminum flywheels are surface hardened, that’s not the case and in any case, they are still softer than steel counterparts. Because of that, problems can arise from small surface area engagement from the head of the fasteners.
FLYWHEEL BOLTS
Black oxide 10.9class, 17mm hex head. These bolts feature partial threading offering a ‘shank’ for the flywheel to rest against rather than resting against threaded portions of the bolt.
